PERSONAL BRANDING SKILLS- THEY DON’T TEACH IN ENGINEERING SCHOOL

To be successful in your career, you need branding skills. These skills help an individual to attain their goals easily. Although personal branding revolves around the customer preferences, it lays its primary focus on improving an individual personality. Here are some skills that promote personal branding for individuals and teams to progress professionally.

The Interpersonal Skills- It is all about socializing with people and expanding the follower base. Failure in communication skills can make professional miss opportunities.

The Non-verbal Communication Skills- These skills help a professional to go beyond the boundaries of the words to have a clear meaning of what the other person wants to say.

The Dressing Style- Sometimes the dressing style of people can reveal their current state of mind and how they want other people to see them.

Although these skills are not taught in the formal education system, these skills help professionals reach heights in their career.

Could Artificially Intelligent – Computers Replace Programmers In The Future?

Machines and computers already started replacing the human beings since a few decades or even centuries. But behind all these replacements are the programmers who developed such software. Moreover, as the technology is evolving the focus on Artificial Intelligence has also evolved. The emergence of such technology has automated a lot of work streams, snatching the jobs of many people. However, there is a constant doubt if the artificial intelligence will replace the programmer in the future.

What is A.I.?

As known, the Artificial Intelligence is a very much advanced form of technology. Moreover, the name itself suggests, the technology tends to work like a human being with the sense of its own judgment. Right now the artificial intelligence is in the development stage and are not as strong and expected. A strong A.I. has the smartness and the capability of an adult human being.

Currently, the major companies owning the weak A.I systems are following the strategy to combine the weak A.I systems to make them look strong.

Will A.I. Replace Programmers?

The developing nature of A.I. has puzzled the programmers about their replacement in the near future. The answer to the question is “yes.” Eventually, the artificial intelligence will replace the programmers in the future. However, by the time A.I. replaces the programmers, the society will get acquainted with such societal change. Some of the examples,

  • Self-driving cars will replace the paid drivers.
  • Telemarketers will be replaced by automated robot-calls.
  • Automated AI and surveys will replace market research analysts.

The industry for programming robots is going to be huge in the future. In fact, it is already a large industry. If a server is considered as an information robot, then the industry for robots is already available. The physical robots are a very big industry today, and the Internet of Things is going to be a massive industry in the near future.

The A.I. replacing the programming is, however, a little far and will take its own time. However, in the near future, the programmers would take help from Artificial Intelligence by using Artificial Intelligence code to improve the programming efficiency. It is very good at helping the programming and will replace the programmers at a point where Artificial Intelligence is very strong.

HYPERLOOP TRAIN TECHNOLOGY- A GREAT TRANSFORMATION IN TRAVEL INDUSTRY

The cutting edge technology today is making the unthinkable things happen. Another concept that emerged recently was – The Hyperloop concept. Proposed by the billionaire inventor Elon Musk, CEO of the aerospace firm SpaceX and the man behind Tesla, this technology will enable pods to travel with an immense speed in a low-pressure environment.

  • The Hyperloop proposed by Musk is made up of two massive tubes that extend from San Francisco and Los Angeles.
  • The Hyperloop pods carrying the passengers will travel through these tubes at speed over 700 mph.
  • This will be done by planting magnetic accelerators for propulsion along the length of the tube that will propel these pods carrying people forward.
  • The company, Hyperloop One already completed and tested its first prototype of 500m in the Nevada desert. This revolutionary transport is said to introduce its first working Hyperloop system by the year 2021.

Choreographed Construction: The Evolution of Architectural Design

Technology is continuously evolving, and so are the architectural trends. Initially, all the designs were created using pencil and paper approach. Nevertheless, soon inventions of AutoCAD replaced the manual method and revolutionized the design industry. However, soon this technology also becomes obsolete. This technology was not capable of meeting the customer’s demands. Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) mainly focused on geometry and lacked collaboration. So there was a need to bring in more advanced technology which was able to curate more intricate designs. This need led to the discovery of the wonder-tool Building Information Modeling, which began the era of choreographed construction.

Building Information Modeling

This tool was an extended version of the CADD tool and was able to manage dynamic and 3D building designs and models. It is a more realistic and utilitarian product for developing enhanced architectural drawings. Given below are its salient features.

  • The software uses the intelligence and information stored in the objects to group, address, attribute, schedule, and quantify them. As a result, it helps in delivering data-rich, smart, and functional representation of the building.
  • BIM technology has the capability to enhance the design deliverables as well as construction practices.
  • It is possible to transfer the real coordinates of the model to the physical sites using a specialized application such as Architectural Navigation and Robotic Total Station. These applications assist in mapping the model coordinates to the physical ground.
  • Other functions involving earthworks, excavations, lifting, and shifting, gets managed using Field-CNC and on-board GPS control.
  • The computerized material delivery system works in close coordination with the BIM technology to move the Radio-frequency Identification tagged building components to the destinations on their own.
  • BIM applications are capable of automating the construction tasks such as building walls, plastering surfaces, fixing roofs, laying floors, and much more.

TECHNOLOGY WILL CHANGE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE FUTURE

The rapid pace at which technology is developing is something that the world has never seen. This exponential growth of technology brings a threat of extinction to the traditional employment.  Moreover, the business that does not keep up with this pace will experience huge disruptions.

FIVE MILLION JOBS WILL GET WIPED OUT

World Economic Forum (WEF) in its report, “The Future of Jobs”, forecasted that technology will snatch away more than 7 million jobs and will provide approximately       2 million jobs. The report urged the governments of various countries to prepare the workforce of their nation to accommodate with the changing future. If the work force is not prepared for the change, it will lead to unemployment and inequality. Additionally, there has always been an argument about the effect of technological change on developing and under-developed countries. In the globalized economy, the companies prefer to invest in advanced economies. Such decision will affect the job opportunities of the developing countries. For example, the demand for assembly work in developing and under-developed countries would reduce if the robots take over their jobs in the high-income countries. For sustainable development, the technological investment should be in-line with the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals.

With the favorable economy, automation will first target the jobs that are non-skilled and that lack human contribution.  For example, robots will replace the workers cutting keys in a hardware store. Another example is software replacing the clerks in a law office to prepare discovery.

EMPLOYMENT IN AUTOMATION

A survey from Economic Modeling  Specialists International and Career Builder revealed that many employers were replaced with automation. But 68% of the surveyed companies mentioned that the adoption of automation resulted in new positions.    Another 35% said that automation created more jobs prior to its adoption.          As a result, if one hand of technology shows the fear of taking away jobs, the other hand provides some assurance of providing new jobs.

EMPLOYMENT IN ENGINEERING FIELD

The growth of technology is expected to increase the jobs in the field of engineering and architecture. New employment opportunities for approximately 67,200 new jobs in the U.S. alone is expected in the following fields,

  • Architectural Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Petroleum Engineering

The growth of Computer Aided Designing (CAD) has also become a demanded skill in the architectural and engineering industry. Additionally, the trends in CAD predict that its demand will keep growing the upcoming years. The main reason behind this demand is the shift of companies from traditional design to CAD.
