A new type of magnet for data storage

Many researchers are researching the use of magnet and magnetism to develop data storage technologies. A team of physicists from New York University has discovered “Singlet-based magnet” which is a first robust example of a brand-new type of magnet that helps in improving the data storage.

Properties of Singlet-based magnet

This magnet was discovered within the compound of uranium and antimony which is also known as USb2. It can change between the magnetized and non-magnetized states quickly and easily. This magnet has fields that pop-in and out of existence, resulting in more flexibility than equivalent conventional magnets.

Spin Exciton

The team found out that the electrons in USb2 can create ‘spin excitons’ that can temporarily form and create an aligned magnetic field when they stick together, creating a single-based magnetism.

Further, these applications are called magnetic recordings which consists of a magnetic medium to store the data in the form of non-volatile memory. All in all, with Singlet-based magnet we have a new technique, which can enhance the performance of data storage technologies.

Nanobots will flow in your body by 2030

This statement might shock you, however it is quite true. Well, Mr. Ray Kurzweil, an author, and an inventor predicted that in 2030, our blood will probably be circulating nanobots, to help one from getting sick and to transfer thoughts to a wireless cloud.

What are Nanobots and how do they work?

Nanobots are tiny microscopic machines used in small devices and artificial intelligence. These nanobots will travel inside any human being on a molecular level that will protect the biological system and will connect the human brain to a cloud-based computer network.

What is the need of these Nanobots in the future?

The idea of nanomachines being injected in our bloodstream has been an on-going discussion for decades. However, recently DNA robots have already been tested on the human body for treating cancer cells. As per the predictions, these nanobots will help in many areas such as;

  • Nanobots, through the right dosage will operate on directly disease-prone area in the human being, reducing the other side-effects.
  • It can also monitor other harmful diseases that can multiply and can create severe issues in the human body.
  • It is also predicted that these nanobots will expand our neocortex with the information held in the cloud, making any human being more informative and visionary.
  • Adding other levels of perceptions in the nanobots, can increase the creativity and give clear expressions and sentiments going inside a human being.

Since these micro-machines are still under the development process; we can only consider their positive points until now. However, we are hoping that these nanobots can treat other vital issues and provide us ideal ways to improve our living conditions.

Origination of 3D-Printing Plastics

If you have bought a 3D printer, and have printed some of the stuff, then you must know what plastic material you need to work with. Different plastic materials have different characteristics and are utilized for certain products. Hence, it is important to know what kinds of plastics are used in 3D printing.

Types of materials used in 3D printing

Naturally occurring organic plastics have been utilized by humans for thousands of years. The use of synthetic plastics was started in mid of 19th century. Gradually by the mid of 20th century, developments in chemical technologies lead to a new era of plastic materials. Plastics are widely used as 3D printing materials. Here, are some types of materials which lead to the origination of 3D printing plastic:

Photopolymers

These polymers are liquid plastic resin that changes into solid form when exposed to light. This UV-curable resin is made up of three main components: Binders, Monomers and, Photoinitiators which are mostly mixed with additives, chemical agents, colorants and plasticizers.

Thermoplastics

They are not as complex as photopolymers. These plastic polymers become moldable at a certain temperature and harden upon cooling. They can also be remelted as per the requirements. Thermoplastics are used in selective laser sintering and fused deposition modelling.

Bioplastics

Substituting conventional plastics with bio-based plastics, made from renewable feedstocks, is an excellent way to mitigate the harmful impact of plastics on the environment. Polylactic Acid (PLA), which is a thermoplastics polymer derived from renewable sources and is the most preferred choice of plastic for 3D printing.

Upcoming 3D printing plastic

There are many organizations which are creating 3D printing plastic from renewable sources and are taking measures to keep the environment clean and protected. Many organizations are also focussed on manufacturing machinery for recycling plastic objects to make 3D printing filaments. All in all, 3D printing the future of the digital world, and it is vital to know about the raw materials used in it to ensure that it is environment-friendly.

Remarkable Green features of BIM

The perpetual growth in the construction industry has a significant impact on environmental sustainability and energy cost.  Consequently, green building solutions are becoming popular as they efficiently balance the concept of sustainable design. Also, to mitigate the ill-effects of global warming, it has become crucial for companies to provide BIM services to implement green architecture.

All about BIM

3d Architectural Blueprint with space for text.

Building Information Modeling is a new approach to building design, construction, and management. The technology helps connect the characteristics and performance of designing ideas and suggests many ways to balance energy and resources in the desired project costs. Some of the remarkable features of BIM which play a vital role in energy-efficient building design are:

  • It analyses the long-term performance of the building by ensuring the fulfillment of the overall objective of sustainable parameters.
  • Through 2D and 3D drawings, BIM provides reliability and consistent information about the building structure.
  • It offers analysis of engineering performance, material specifications and green parameters.
  • BIM models clearly define a connection with building elements. It allows a change in designs accordingly and evaluates its impact on performance characteristics.
  • BIM services give in-depth knowledge, easier visualization, and improved evaluation that initiates greater control over the complete building process including cost, materials, and resources.
  • BIM helps architects and engineers to increase energy-efficiency and to deliver better indoor air quality with efficient performance.
  • It gives an opportunity to yield traditional design deliverables in an active manner, which also helps to make sustainable design strategies.
  • It includes many pioneering green features that benefit designers to go for sustainable options without increasing the cost of construction.

Future of green building design

BIM offers a parametric database of design information, which is a digital form of a building that reflects the project possibility, schedule, and cost details consistently throughout the development process. A project represented with a BIM exhibits an organized view of features and functions in a simple format that everyone can understand and modify when needed. As the project progresses, the model can be transformed with new analysis and new design alternatives, to get real-time insight into the result. Virtual walkthroughs of the building model allow owners to see the effects of green design.

In a nutshell, through BIM, architects can gauge whether the design options meet specified sustainability criteria, and can provide in-depth analysis so that the clients can easily understand designs.
